Passage – Brazil to Salvation Islands – 14/6/2017 – 22/6/2017

After 6 weeks up the river in Jacare, Brazil we were finally underway again, kind of.  Andrew was quite concerned at how slowly we were moving, but the river was so muddy he couldn’t check the bottom of the bottom.  Once a few kilometers from the river mouth, we stopped the engine and Andrew dived under the boat to check the bottom, only to discover it was covered in barnacles of particular concern the propeller and rudder.  After 45 minutes of continual diving under he had scraped the propeller and rudder well enough that we could make progress, although slower than normal.

After 8 1/2 days we arrived in the Salvation Islands, which kind of felt like salvation for me after a long passage.
